FURIA (Pol) - 'Marzannie, Krolowej Polksi'

FURIA (Pol)
'Marzannie, Krolowei Polski'
PAGAN RECORDS
Release Date : 20/03/2012

FURIA is bloody insane but they have never failed us (though 'Halny' dissapointed us a bit). That's a fact ! Bring the madness to South East Asia ! Fix them a tour here Tomasz !

This 3rd album appears to continue with the vibe from 'Huta Laura/Kataowice/Krowleska Huta' MLP (2010), while their verocious and melodical trademark still remains intact. Their signature transcedenting guitar fretworks and Nihil's strong paganistic vocal is clearly no match for others, putting them far into a different league. The last track - "Sa To Kola" single handedly destroyed most metal releases in the 1st quarter of 2012. Simply top class and bloody fuckin' brilliant. But can you imagine what will this whole 7 tracks album brings on the other hand ?!

The 2nd track (no title provided) seems to have one short 'Halny' experimental/psycodelic moment that fortunately didn't continue, but the riffs again stand out. The sound of the album is getting more traditional and obscure this time (but nothing comparable to the MLP) that seems to fit perfectly with the strong persona behind FURIA. While, the 4th track - "Wodzenie" took us to this one well crafted musical journey into their world of nothingness. "Marzannie, Krolowei Polski" is highly recommended !

We wonder, any bands dare to match with this ?! On second thought, nay, just forget it !!

NUNSLAUGHTER : HELLBANGERS TOUR 2012 - SOUTH EAST ASIA : JOHOR - MALAYSIA : 24/03/2012

NUNSLAUGHTER finally arrived in South East Asia on their 25th anniversary and made this Hellbangers South East Asia Tour a show to remember. Without the commitment from the organizer - BURSTIN' OUT ! in bringing them to Johor, we don't think that most of us would be able to experience the things we did on that bloody night of 24th March 2012.

BURSTIN' OUT !

MUZIK BOX PRODUCTIONS with NUNSLAUGHTER tour shirt

When most extreme metal bands tried to look grim and evil, this Devil Metal master simply came with killer attitude. Though with ton of releases under their belt, there was no sign of 'rockstar' antique. What the band members - Don Of The Dead (vocal), Jim Sadist (drum), Zack Massacre (guitar) and Shaun Deserter (bass) potrayed is a clear reflection of a true underground spirit.

The opening acts - LOGAM and AS SAHAR gave their all and put out a good performance.

When Don came on stage later and announced - "We are NunSlaughter !", we don't think that the crowds are aware that he had brought Hell along. As the first song  "I Am Death" was unleashed, the crowds suddenly realised that they are about to get burnt.

NUNSLAUGHTER destroying the stage in Johor

The band stopped during the 2nd song as Zack Massacre encountered some technical setbacks on the amp and it took a while before the band re-commenced their act. Jim Sadist step in with some drumming solo here and there, and playing guessing game with the crowds, asking them what song he had just played.

The band belted out several tracks from the album 'Goat' - probably to promote the digipack version which was re-released in 2011. It was fuckin' killer to finally hear "Raid The Convent" live. The band also delivered "She Lives By Night", "Sacrifical Zombie", "As The Cacodemons Feast", "Church Of Disgust", "Satanic Slut" and "Ritual Of Darkness". Others were "Midnight Mass", "Killed By The Cross" etc.

Despite the dissapointed turnout (probably 100 metalheads or less), that didn't stop NUNSLAUGHTER from destroying the stage. The best moment must be when Zack Massacre suddenly let himself loose on those killer crowds at the front row and body surfed back to the stage. It was definitely murder at the front row !

Back to the stage

Amazed with the band strong stage presence, we definitely lost count of the songs on stage. But they closed the night brilliantly with one of the best track from the album 'Hex' - "Smell The Burning Churches". Bloody killer !  We were hoping for "Hex" and "This Is Fucking War" from the same album, but not this time around.

Earlier, we managed to talk with Jim Sadist (a very friendly character) briefly about the tour and he seems to be happy with the response and hospitality given by the Asian crowds (they have played Thailand and Singapore the nights before). He told us that he only brought a pair of drumstick to the venue and reminded us to be at the front by the end of the show. He didn't threw out the stick as we thought he would - probably the floor was very much empty and the stick might fell flat on the floor. So, as soon as he walked down from the stage after the show ended, we approached him and thanked him and the band for the killer set. We asked him whether we can get one of the stick as to remember the show. In return, he said "Certainly, yes you can". Thanks Jim !

JIM SADIST torturing the drum set

Though they appeared tired, all the band members attended to the numerous request from the fans with immense kindness - be it photo taking, signing of poster/album etc. They were took prisoner almost everywhere by the crowds. The best part was everybody went home battered but satisfied. NUNSLAUGHTER simply rules !

Even the veteran metal bands from the JOHOR SCENE were having a blast. Let the following pictures speak for itselfs.

Whoever managed to record the show in audio or video, please let us know cause we really need a copy. Please send to Don a copy as well. Hopefully, there was a soundboard recording or whatsoever, so we can get our own series of live recording for Hellbangers South East Asia Tour.

CROMOK : FOREVER 'BACK' IN TIME

When 'Image of Purity' (1991) was released, the cassette tape simply blown everything away. We still remembered well that it urged us so greatly that we picked up a pen and wrote to the band as to show our support. We never expected that many months later, a festive greeting card reached us in return. It was from CROMOK.

Everybody was excited when the band headed home from Australia and hit the stage for the first time at Life Centre (1992) with SUFFERCATION as opening act. OGY (BLACKSKULL) came in for the late DIN on guitar (DIN had left the band at that time). A few of the live tracks appeared in the re-released version of 'Image Of Purity' and a 'live' CD of the show was also available somewhere.

The long-awaited 2nd album 'Forever In Time' (1993) disappointed those who hope that the album will be in the vein of 'Image of Purity'. The album was recorded professionally hence lost much of that killer raw sounding (perhaps 'Image Of Purity' was only a demo). The remaining trio of Sam (bass), Karl (guitar) and Miji (drum) still kicked ass however. A good album nevertheless.

Though CROMOK continued after 'Yours Truly' (1996), but to us personally, they simply have lost the magic when Karl left. The inclusion of Hillary to replace Karl felt abrupt on us and pushed us far away from CROMOK. No one can deny that Hillary was one talented guitarist. Though he brought in his experience, it just ain't CROMOK anymore.

The only 2 cassette tapes that we still kept tight until today were 'Image Of Purity' and 'Forever In Time'. These are 2 classic albums and it described well what CROMOK was all about back then.

Now, do you finally get it why this reunion show is special ?

Walking down memory lanes, here are some newspaper cuttings from our collection about CROMOK dated way back in 1993 (credit to the journalist - Seri Intan Othman & Samsor Junet).

CROMOK : 25TH ANNIVERSARY REUNION - THRASHING KUALA LUMPUR : KL LIVE - MALAYSIA : 08/04/2012

CROMOK : 25TH ANIVERSARY REUNION - THRASHING KUALA LUMPUR
DATE : 08/04/2012
TIME : 4.00 PM
VENUE : KL LIVE - MALAYSIA
CLOCKWORK EVENTS / UNCANG TIGA

CROMOK finally returns on stage with their remaining original line-up. If this is not exciting, then we do not know what is ?! Some might still remember that they did play for the first time at this very same place (Life Centre) some 20 years ago (1992) when they just came back from Australia.

CROMOK is now a household name in Malaysia. But back then, no one can imagine that a group of students from Wollongong University - Australia would send a wave that came and hit Malaysian shore with their brand of Thrash Metal. 'Image Of Purity' would cause a storm and it never stopped. It remained as one important Thrash Metal legacy.

So this reunion show will bring so much memories - to us as well personally. Most importantly it marks their 25 years in existence as well as reuniting the remaining original members back. Get the ticket and be there. Who knows this will be the last time you ever see them live on stage.
